Who can apply for membership via this lottery?

• Residents of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown can apply for membership. (Please note that residents of Philipse Manor should not apply through this lottery.)

How will the lottery work?  

• To qualify for the lottery, applicants must:
• • Reside in Sleepy Hollow (excluding Philipse Manor) or Tarrytown
  • Complete the Application Form
  • Secure 2 letters of recommendation, each written by a current PMBC member in good standing.
• Only one application per household will be considered.
• Application materials will be reviewed by the PMBC Board before entry into the lottery.
• The lottery drawing will be held in early May by the PMBC Board. 
  

What is needed for the recommendations?

• Each applicant must secure 2 recommendations on their behalf. Both recommenders for a given applicant must be current PMBC members in good standing and cannot be from the same household.
• Recommendations must be written and submitted by the recommender, not the applicant.
• PMBC Board Members are not eligible to submit letters of recommendation.
• Only 2 recommendations per applicant will be reviewed; additional recommendations will not be considered.
• Recommenders should complete the Recommendation Form to submit their recommendation; emailed letters will not be accepted.
• Recommendations must be received by March 31, 2024.
  
  

What are the fees for joining?

• New members must pay both the Annual Membership Dues and an Initiation Fee.
• Annual Membership Dues in 2023 were as follows (note that the 2024 dues will be finalized by early March):
• • Family:            $775
  • Sr. Couple:      $550
  • Sr. Single:        $425
  • Single:             $550
  • Members must also pay sales tax and may incur an additional fee for parking rights, depending on where they live.
• The Initiation Fee is $2000 and can be paid in 2 installments ($1000 each) across 2 years.
  

What does the timeline look like?

• Applications open:              Late January
• Application deadline:            March 31, 2024
• Application review process: April 2024
• Lottery and notifications:        Early May 2024
• Payment deadline:                May 20, 2024  

How many new memberships will be offered via this lottery?

• As always, our priority is to ensure that our current members can enjoy the Club—and enjoy it safely. We do not want to jeopardize either enjoyment or safety by overtaxing our capacity, so only a handful of new members will be permitted to join.
• Therefore, we anticipate extending memberships to approximately 5 households, depending on household mix of new members and any unexpected capacity changes at the Club.
• Note that the percentage of new members who reside in Sleepy Hollow must be greater than the percentage of new members who reside in Tarrytown; we will continue the drawing until this requirement is met.
  
  

I applied to be a member years ago and was put on a wait list. Do I still have to apply for the lottery?

• Anyone interested in joining must apply via the lottery. We no longer maintain a wait list for membership. Many families have moved into Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow since we last were able to offer new membership spots, and the lottery gives anyone interested in joining a chance.
